The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. To become a NRA Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. The course covers different firearm types, actions, parts, and their operation. Ammunition types, storage options and proper care & maintenance and above all, safety on the range and roles and responsibilities are also covered. This is a hands-on course with a live fire portion at the shooting range. All course materials are provided including the use of firearms & ammunition. The nine-hour course consists of classroom time and practical exercises conducted on a range.

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an

firearms and firearm fundamentals to thrive in this program.
