DESCRIPTION:Intro to Red Dot Pistol is a focused 4-hour course for shooters who want fast\, repeatable results with pistol-mounted optics. Perfect for shooters moving from iron sights or anyone tired of fighting common red-dot problems\, this class gives straightforward\, proven techniques you can use immediately on the range and in dry fire at home. \nYou’ll get hands-on instruction explaining how red dot optics work\, plus targeted coaching on rapid dot acquisition\, staying on target through recoil\, and sharpening your visual discipline. Drills are practical and easy to follow\, built to improve your speed and accuracy without over-complication. This course equips you with a clear plan for continued improvement so you leave confident and ready to progress. \nRequired Equipment \n\nEye protection & hearing protection\nFunctional semi-automatic handgun in .22 LR\, .380\, or 9mm\nPistol must have the optic pre-installed\nOptic zeroed for 10\, 15\, or 25 yards\nOptic user manual and sight-adjustment tools\nSpare optic battery\nMinimum of three magazines\n150–200 rounds of factory ammunition\nNotepad and pen (strongly recommended)\nPre-authorized shooters may work from the holster: Holster\, belt\, and mag pouches\n\nRecommended Attire \n\nClimate-appropriate shirt with a high collar (no low-cut/loose necklines)\nPants with belt loops (required for holstered draws)\nBall cap recommended\nClosed-toe shoes\n\nEVENT REGISTRATION TERMS & CONDITIONS\nCourse Transfer: With 72-hour advance notice of the event date we will issue a unique re-registration code for course transfers.\nCancellation Refund: Refunds for 50% balance of event fee\, if no transfer is possible\, are issued in the form of store gift cards only but ONLY if we are notified of the cancelation up to 72 hours in advance of the event date.\nNo-Call/No-Show: Participants who do not show to the event without prior 72-hour notice forfeit their total registration fees.\nSame Day Cancelations: Same day cancelations are non-refundable as spots in classes are quick to fill and we will be unable to resell that spot in the event or give an individual on a waitlist adequate time to purchase that spot.

SUMMARY:Howell's Gunslinger Match - 2026
DESCRIPTION:Howell’s Gun Shop is pleased to present the Howell’s Gunslinger Match!  \nHowell’s pistol match is designed to be safe\, fun and challenging! Stages change weekly and can include: safe movement with barricades\, strong and support hand shooting\, steel plates\, low light\, moving targets\, bowling pin shoots\, accuracy exercises\, speed exercises and more! Put your skills to the test! \nHowell’s Gunslinger Match is open to the not-so-beginner shooter who can safely handle and shoot their handgun. While we don’t recommend this event as your very first shooting experience we do encourage shooters of all skill levels to come and experience this friendly competition. \nFEE: $15\nEVENTS HELD TWICE MONTHLY! Thursdays\, 2:00pm – 5:30pm \n\nWalk-ins welcome! This is NOT a pre-registration event. Roster of shooters is based on a first come first serve basis.\nOur matches are designed to take roughly 5-10 minutes for each shooter. Each participant shoots the match twice in a row\, their top score out of the two is entered into the competitor pool.\n\nEQUIPMENT: \n\nEye & Hearing Protection\nRange appropriate attire\nCenterfire pistol\n50 Rounds of factory FMJ ball ammo\nMinimum of 3 magazines (To save time for shooting arrive with 3 mags preloaded with 8 rounds each.)\nGun belt\, Mag Pouches\, Strong side outside the waistband (OWB) holster. (For safety reasons bra holsters\, soft side collapsible holsters\, cross draw\, serpa\, ankle\, off body and behind-the-back posters are NOT allowed during live-fire portion of course. Contact us with questions.)\nA good attitude!\n\nSAFETY:  \n\nAll participants must sign in on the group event waiver.\nProfessional behavior is expected at all times.\nWe run a COLD range. This means – all guns are unloaded and cased until it is your designated time to load and make ready per the RSO’s direction.\nSafety rules and stage protocol will be briefed prior to the match and strictly enforced.\nAll shooting is conducted under the supervision of Howell’s certified Range Safety Officers and staff.\n\nRULES & ETIQUETTE: \n\nOrder of waiver sign in represents order of shooters.\nEach shooter will shoot match twice per event.\nParticipants are expected to help tape or reset targets between shooters.\nThere is NO filming of other shooters without their expressed permission.\n\nSCORING: \n\nHowell’s prefers to keep our scoring simple: Any shot that breaks the line is considered a hit and scored according to the target in use.\nHowell’s RSO in charge has the final say on the scoring.\nTie breakers are a very real possibility and a bullseye shoot off will determine the winner.\nAll scores will be logged.
