DESCRIPTION:Howell’s Gun Shop is pleased to present the Howell’s Gunslinger Match!  \nHowell’s pistol match is designed to be safe\, fun and challenging! Stages change weekly and can include: safe movement with barricades\, strong and support hand shooting\, steel plates\, low light\, moving targets\, bowling pin shoots\, accuracy exercises\, speed exercises and more! Put your skills to the test! \nHowell’s Gunslinger Match is open to the not-so-beginner shooter who can safely handle and shoot their handgun. While we don’t recommend this event as your very first shooting experience we do encourage shooters of all skill levels to come and experience this friendly competition. \nFEE: $15\nEVENTS HELD TWICE MONTHLY! Thursdays\, 2:00pm – 5:30pm \n\nWalk-ins welcome! This is NOT a pre-registration event. Roster of shooters is based on a first come first serve basis.\nOur matches are designed to take roughly 5-10 minutes for each shooter. Each participant shoots the match twice in a row\, their top score out of the two is entered into the competitor pool.\n\nEQUIPMENT: \n\nEye & Hearing Protection\nRange appropriate attire\nCenterfire pistol\n50 Rounds of factory FMJ ball ammo\nMinimum of 3 magazines (To save time for shooting arrive with 3 mags preloaded with 8 rounds each.)\nGun belt\, Mag Pouches\, Strong side outside the waistband (OWB) holster. DESCRIPTION:The A Girl & A Gun’s Introduction to Holster Skills course is a 4-hour in-person class designed specifically for those who are ready to build confidence and capability while learning how to safely draw and reholster a firearm from an outside-the-waistband holster. Whether your interests lead you to competitive shooting\, structured range training\, or future skills development\, this course provides a solid foundation in holster use. \nParticipants will gain essential knowledge in firearm safety\, range procedures\, holster selection\, and basic handling techniques to ensure a successful and empowering experience. Taught by a Certified A Girl & A Gun Instructor and a supportive\, credentialed team\, this course offers expert guidance in a welcoming\, nonjudgmental environment. \nThis is the class we wish we had the first time we stepped onto the range with hands-on coaching\, thoughtful instruction\, and a community of people who are excited to learn together! \nREQUIRED EQUIPMENT: \n\nEye Protection & Hearing Protection\nA functional semi-automatic handgun in .22lr\, 380 or 9mm\nTwo magazines\nHolster: Hard Sided\, Outside the Waistband Holster (No bra holsters\,  purse carry\, IWB\, push button retention\, fabric or soft sided  holsters allowed.) \nTwo Magazine Pouches\nGun Belt\n100 rounds of factory ammunition\nNote-pad and pen strongly recommended\n\nRECOMMENDED ATTIRE: \n\nClimate appropriate: short sleeve or long sleeve shirt and ball cap\nHigh collar or neckline shirt. Put your skills to the test! \nHowell’s Gunslinger Match is open to the not-so-beginner shooter who can safely handle and shoot their handgun. While we don’t recommend this event as your very first shooting experience we do encourage shooters of all skill levels to come and experience this friendly competition. \nFEE: $15\nEVENTS HELD TWICE MONTHLY! Thursdays\, 2:00pm – 5:30pm \n\nWalk-ins welcome! This is NOT a pre-registration event. Roster of shooters is based on a first come first serve basis.\nOur matches are designed to take roughly 5-10 minutes for each shooter. Each participant shoots the match twice in a row\, their top score out of the two is entered into the competitor pool.\n\nEQUIPMENT: \n\nEye & Hearing Protection\nRange appropriate attire\nCenterfire pistol\n50 Rounds of factory FMJ ball ammo\nMinimum of 3 magazines (To save time for shooting arrive with 3 mags preloaded with 8 rounds each.)\nGun belt\, Mag Pouches\, Strong side outside the waistband (OWB) holster. Our 3-hour Concealed Carry Permit course is designed for intermediate shooters who are serious about carrying a concealed firearm responsibly in the state of Maine. This class provides all the essential knowledge and a certificate needed for your Maine Concealed Carry Application. \nYou’ll dive deep into key topics\, including: \n\nMaine’s concealed carry laws and legal responsibilities\nSafe storage\, transportation\, and handling of your firearm\nThe right firearm\, ammunition\, and gear for concealed carry\nLegal concepts like the use of force\, castle doctrine\, and stand your ground\nInteracting with law enforcement\nAnd more\, including mindset\, personal responsibility\, and continuing education\n\nThis course goes beyond the basics\, empowering you to carry with confidence and understand the serious responsibilities that come with concealed carry. \nREQUIRED EQUIPMENT \n\nEye & ear protection\nClosed-toe shoes\nHigh collared shirt\nBrimmed ball caps recommended\nNotebook & Pen\nAll firearms and ammunition for the live fire qualification are provided by Howell’s.\n*If you would like to bring your own firearm you are welcome to do so. You are required to bring 10 rounds of factory FMJ ball ammunition\, in your handgun caliber of choice\, to shoot the final live fire qualification.\n\nPASS or CLASS: What You Need to Know \nTo pass this class\, participants must complete the classroom session and demonstrate basic range\, gun handling and shooting safety skills in our live-fire qualification. Those who pass will receive a certificate of completion. If a participant finishes the classroom session but does not meet the safety or basic gun handling requirements\, they will receive a CLASS recommendation instead of a certificate. The certificate will be deferred until the participant completes additional training\, such as a private lesson or New Shooter program\, and successfully retakes the qualification. Once the qualification is passed\, Howells will issue the Maine Concealed Carry certificate. \nWhat to Expect: Participants must already be familiar with operating a semi-automatic handgun or revolver for the qualification test. You’ll demonstrate key skills such as safe loading\, following range commands\, and completing two 5-round courses of fire. Our 3-hour Concealed Carry Permit course is designed for intermediate shooters who are serious about carrying a concealed firearm responsibly in the state of Maine. This class provides all the essential knowledge and a certificate needed for your Maine Concealed Carry Application. \nYou’ll dive deep into key topics\, including: \n\nMaine’s concealed carry laws and legal responsibilities\nSafe storage\, transportation\, and handling of your firearm\nThe right firearm\, ammunition\, and gear for concealed carry\nLegal concepts like the use of force\, castle doctrine\, and stand your ground\nInteracting with law enforcement\nAnd more\, including mindset\, personal responsibility\, and continuing education\n\nThis course goes beyond the basics\, empowering you to carry with confidence and understand the serious responsibilities that come with concealed carry. \nREQUIRED EQUIPMENT \n\nEye & ear protection\nClosed-toe shoes\nHigh collared shirt\nBrimmed ball caps recommended\nNotebook & Pen\nAll firearms and ammunition for the live fire qualification are provided by Howell’s.\n*If you would like to bring your own firearm you are welcome to do so. You are required to bring 10 rounds of factory FMJ ball ammunition\, in your handgun caliber of choice\, to shoot the final live fire qualification.\n\nPASS or CLASS: What You Need to Know \nTo pass this class\, participants must complete the classroom session and demonstrate basic range\, gun handling and shooting safety skills in our live-fire qualification. Those who pass will receive a certificate of completion. If a participant finishes the classroom session but does not meet the safety or basic gun handling requirements\, they will receive a CLASS recommendation instead of a certificate. The certificate will be deferred until the participant completes additional training\, such as a private lesson or New Shooter program\, and successfully retakes the qualification. Once the qualification is passed\, Howells will issue the Maine Concealed Carry certificate. \nWhat to Expect: Participants must already be familiar with operating a semi-automatic handgun or revolver for the qualification test. You’ll demonstrate key skills such as safe loading\, following range commands\, and completing two 5-round courses of fire.
