Pistols are some of the most used firearms in the world\, but not everyone has the training to use them safely. With the NRA Certified Pistol Instructor course\, GTBR will help you become an effective and knowledgeable instructor\, capable of teaching students how to handle pistols with skill and safety. \n  \nWhat You Will Learn\n• Range Safety\n• Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling\n• Ammunition Knowledge\n• The Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting\n• Shooting Positions and Shooting Qualifications\n• Scoring Targets\n• Selecting and Maintaining Your Pistol \nThe Prerequisites\nIn order to undertake the NRA Certified Pistol Instructor Training Course you need to know the basics of firearm safety and have a measure of proficiency in shooting skills and provide proof of completing each the following prior to class:\n\nYou must take and pass the NRA Basic Instructor Training Course within 2 years.\nYou must take and pass the student course NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor Led Student Course.\nProvide proof of completing each prior to class.\n\nWhat to Expect \nThe NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor Course is more hands-on and involves some live-fire range time. Before that is classroom instruction with dummy ammunition where you will learn proper operation\, maintenance\, storage\, and shooting fundamentals for revolvers and semi-automatic handguns. You will also learn how to appropriately select both pistols and ammunition. Marksmanship and range safety are also covered. \nAfter that\, you will head to the range to test your skills and undergo nationally standardized shooting qualification. \nYou will receive the NRA Basics of Shooting handbook and a certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. \nWhat do I need to bring and what do I need to know? Please download and review the following NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor documents BEFORE you come to class. Round out your skill set with malfunction clearing and ammunition management (reloading) techniques with a heavy emphasis on marksmanship and accuracy. By the end of this class\, you will have the knowledge to safely and confidently enjoy shooting your handgun! \n*Please note that this is NOT a revolver class. This course is focused on semiautomatic handguns only. DESCRIPTION:Howell’s Youth Safety League is a monthly 60 minute lesson and range time for students 10 to 18 designed to instill firearm safety\, education and marksmanship skills. This program is an opportunity for our young students to learn with others\, make friends\, build character\, and continue the tradition of shooting sports and safety practices. This league is open to all students whom have taken a private lesson at Howell’s within one calendar year where the basics of range safety and etiquette are taught on a one-on-one basis. Students must be accompanied by a participating parent/guardian over the age of 21 years old. \nMontly meetings focus on safety and a themed lesson on marksmanship and precision. Participants then transition to the range to shoot the NRA Pistol Qualification and NRA Rifle Qualification exercises and progress through the series at their own pace.
